Considering this is an old hotel, it's very clean. In a great location. Staff very friendly & helpful.

Once again, we had a fantastic weekend at the Islander. I believe this was our third stay here, each time celebrating our wedding anniversary. We've always loved the location (walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants) and the peace and quiet (well off busy, noisy Hwy. 158). But the main reason we keep coming back is the service. Jessica and the staff always go out of their way to take good care of us. They always treat us like family and that means a lot. Yes, there are bigger, fancier, newer hotels on the Outer Banks, but I'll wager none come close to the Islander as far as making visitors feel at home. That's why we keep coming back.

This is such a cute little hotel. Whenever we come to nags head, we always stay here and we will continue to do so moving forward. Only thing I wish they had was a hot tub!! ?? Has a beautiful view of the ocean with a super short walk and it’s close to a lot of shops, grocery stores, gas stations, etc.

My whole experience was exceptional. The room was clean, staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Ocean view was spectacular. Easy access to the beach or lounge by the pool. I plan on returning.

We love this little beachfront hotel with vintage vibes! We have been coming here with our family for years. In fact, my husband has been coming here since he was very young, and now we bring our own kids. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure your stay is relaxing. The rooms are always clean with comfy beds. We usually stay on the first floor and have a kitchenette (stovetop, microwave, mini-fridge with freezer—just enough to ensure you don’t have to eat every meal out and can save some cash). The pool is perfect for little swimmers and adults alike, but being just a set of stairs away from the beach is fantastic. We also appreciate that it’s just a short walk to The Dunes Restaurant and Fat Boyz Ice Cream. Parking and loading/unloading is easy with the wagons provided near the rope swings out front. There is outdoor space for a larger group to share a meal or to grill. The building is a reminder of a different time in the best way. It is well kept and in no hurry to embrace current hotel trends, giving it a nostalgic beach vacation feel. The Islander truly is a great place to make family memories year after year.

Absolutely love staying here. Very low key and quiet. Been many times and will go many more. Owners live on-site and are very attentive to your needs they treat you like family. I cannot begin to elaborate on how much they do to assist you in having a nice time there and the beach in general

Came in 8pm evening on a friday with a friend, awesome little place and helpful people. Got a room quick and instantly booked it for a 2nd night. Cozy rooms w 30 second walk to beach, nice clean beds, fresh, and clean bathrooms. Awesome little motel to stay at, have a pool too. Noticed slight bugs in the room time to time and the outside door was getting really old and hard to close and open as well as the knob. Will definitely be back

Perfect location for our family with awesome beach/pool access and views from most rooms. We don't don't need super fancy just clean and reliabe which this place offers. I appreciate the family and history of this place. I look forward to seeing the same folks every year who are always kind and welcoming. Multiple members in my family and friends group have been going to The Islander for more than 25 years. See ya soon ?

We have been staying at the Islander for over 35 years. Convenient location, family owned, great and friendly staff. Great prices, clean and comfortable rooms. Whether beach or pool you have both. Thomas Mazuroski
