Dare Haven Motel offers a historic and affordable stay in Manteo, North Carolina, with convenient access to downtown and fishing opportunities. While some recent reviews highlight friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere, significant concerns regarding mold and potential staffing issues have been raised.
I’m here as I type this now actually but I feel like I got swindled out of $25 in change. Also, the room is nice but you can see and smell black mold absolutely everywhere! I don’t know about yall but I’ll never come back here again. EVER!
Dare Haven and their staff I have found to be incredibly friendly and accommodating, the rooms to be well-designed with still preserving its historical charm and characteristics . The best part is the the location ,it’s exceptional , you are literally just a min or two from downtown manteo and if you like to fish ? you are just minutes from some of the best fishing in or off shore , and if wanted there are boats available to charter. They offer pamphlets and information at their office. Their staff would be more than happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have to help make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. There’s plenty of parking and even space available for boats etc.
If you're looking for housing look no further. They rent to all locals no matter who and can offer a rate as low as $1000 per month even during summer months. They allow any and all pets and even kitty cats and they have a fenced in area in the back that backs up to several rooms for bonfires and lounging. You can almost always find people socializing with music playing in this area. Often times the front desk agent can be found enjoying a cold one with the guests in the evenings and sharing stories about past guests, the good the bad and the ugly. It is a much older motel so expect some rooms to have that hourly rate appeal however plenty of the rooms have been remodled. The wifi only works from outside the rooms near the office so if you are coming for quiet work related reasons stay somewhere else. They are typically extremely short staffed so it can be difficult to find someone at the desk but they are just a phone call away and will leave the key in the room for you along with a receipt. If you stay here be sure to take your trash and empty it when you leave because it's hard for the two girls to lift the heavy bags into the dumpster and it attracts flies and other unpleasant crawly creatures when they are piled up for too long. If you need a place to live or just want to party it up for a night or 3 call them. From small families to construction workers. Everyone is welcome.
My boyfriend and I stayed here recently because we our friends were hosting a concert at the local fairgrounds. We had a really hard time finding somewhere to stay that wasn't astronomically expensive, considering it is OBX and tourist season. We were put into contact with the owner here, Rob. The motel is a short walk to downtown and the fairgrounds. His family has owned this spot for generations and he treated us just like family from our very first phone interaction all the way through to the end of our stay. It was the kind of service that you just don't get anymore. Rob was super awesome, he locked us in for a sweet room at an unbeatable rate. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly, we had fridge and freezer in the room, the AC worked great, the other guests were happy too so everyone was interacting and having a great time. Things were quiet at bed time, even early morning was quiet as other guests were leaving. Rob took time out of his day to personally check us in and see us to our room, he did a quality check to make sure we had what we needed, the service was seriously top notch! Do not overlook this spot when considering where you are going to stay when traveling to the area!!!
Modest accommodations at an equally modest price. Stayed here while working on the airport nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms+/facilities were clean and well maintained. The proximity to the job site/ airport was very convenient. The short distance from here to the nearby service station made things so much easier on myself and coworkers than some of the places we ended up staying. Will definitely stay here again the next time im in the area.
We were fortunate enough to get a room at the Dare Haven with little to no notice. It was perfect for us. You will have to provide your own shampoo, hair dryer, iron etc. But for the money you can't complain. It was clean, quiet, quaint. Beds are very comfortable. I really loved it because it reminded me of the way it USE to be at all motels on the Outer Banks!! The employees were excellent and very friendly. If you want to do some fishing, they can get you on an awesome deep sea fishing boat.. "Strike Em" Wonderful crew, and they know how to find the fish!!
