Mia’s Boutique Hotel receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising its convenient location near the beach and restaurants, along with clean and comfortable rooms. However, recurring concerns about thin walls, noise from neighbors, and occasional cleanliness issues, particularly regarding floors and bathroom mildew, have been raised. Recent stays show improvements in communication and service from staff, but overall, there is room for improvement in addressing guest complaints.
I really enjoyed staying at Mia’s! The room seemed very clean, it was a great location! Right nearby the beach and a bunch of restaurants and ice cream shops. Something that would have been nice is if maybe the rooms had a door wedge to hold the door open, it was very loud hearing the doors bounce constantly off of the door opener that’s on the door- When workers are cleaning, having a neighbor that’s in and out all night long, ect. On our last night, we got up around 1130 to use the bathroom and there was a cockroach in our room. Not sure if that is normal for NC this time of the year but it did creep us out a bit so we didn’t end up staying our last night and just went home early. It ended up running out of the room when we left the door open, but maybe just something to be aware of. Otherwise it was a great stay!
Rooms were nice had everything we needed. Walking distance to everything you could ask for. Beach less than 5 minutes away. Food plenty of options to choose from. There is also a pool for when the sand is a little hot to be walking across. Best part was being able to bring our pup! Definitely would come back!
This is a quaint little motel or the room we were in. Clean, and trust me i use to do this at one time. Bed was comfortable and walking to the beach was right there you have to be a bit of a hiker because its on the other side of a sand dune. Room has fridge and microwave little dinette table and coupe of chairs grateful for two. Bathroom definitely 1 at a time or as my hubby would say one butt at a time lol again very clean!!
I had a great stay here! Booking was easy and I mentioned that my dog would be with me in the booking comments. I received an email pretty quickly from Valorie with a lot of helpful information. I really appreciated her reaching out! Great communication from her, very clean rooms, no pet fee, easy to get to, and close to a lot of restaurants/shops/etc. I will definitely stay here again!
Great value! We stayed in a very spacious 2 queen, kitchenette, ocean balcony room on the 2nd floor. Room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Large walk-in shower. The balcony was big but the ocean views were obstructed by sand dunes. I’d recommend the 3rd floor. There’s only 5 parking spots directly in front of the building with 8 rooms - parking might be challenging during busy season. I didn’t move my car the whole time because we walked to nearby restaurants for dinner. Customer service was great - very friendly! The only negative is you can hear everything your neighbors do. The walls are very thin as well as the floors. We heard every footstep the people above us took as well as the conversations our neighbors had and also when they sneezed or laughed.
I booked the Deluxe Room for 4 People with Sea View. There is a large sand dune in front of the hotel, so if you want a clear ocean view, I recommend requesting a room on the 3rd floor. Second-floor rooms also offer balconies with ocean views, however, the view is partially obstructed by the sand dune. The room was neat and clean and included a small kitchen with appliances, silverware, a coffee machine, a dining table for four, a microwave, and a medium-sized refrigerator. Unfortunately, it was quite cold and extremely windy during our stay, so we didn’t get to enjoy the ocean view as much as we had hoped. That said, the view itself was very nice. A couple of issues we encountered during our stay: 1. Thin walls and unpleasant neighbor interaction The walls are extremely thin—you can easily hear neighbors talking and TV noise from adjacent rooms. We had unpleasnt neighbor interaction/confrontation. 2. Front desk not available This appears to be a privately owned hotel or motel with limited front desk staff. I tried to contact the front desk or a manager regarding the confrontation with our neighbor and also to request a hair dryer, but no one was available at the time. 3. Thin bed sheets Make sure to bring your own comforter or blankets. This could have been a perfect and memorable first visit to the Outer Banks, and unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Room was great. It faced the ocean with a balcony, and was right on the beach. The room was roomy with stocked kitchenette. The bathroom was spacious. Rooms were very clean and decor was lovely. Beds were comfortable. Check in and check out were easy. Hotel located within a couple of blocks from shops and restaurants. Had a wonderful stay.
We paid 926.25 for 3 nights oceanfront in late September. That may sound high for an older property but an older property gives a much cooler oceanfront view, closer than anywhere else on the beach from our large private balcony to the actual surf. Unit 17 is 3rd floor end unit facing the pier, so lucky we got this unit! Best views. The price includes having our dog with us, and a small but serviceable kitchen. 3rd floor walkup. There was a parking space we could use each day without issue. Be aware that first floor unit views are blocked by the enormous sand dunes and in many properties so are the second floors, although this building the second floor does have a view just over the dunes. The door lock gave us some trouble but once we got practiced we did well. We only had one key to the unit, and we split up for different activities during the day, so we had to manage how to deal with the room access between us to share a key. They have doors with codes except for where that system isn't working. I would not rent the first floor. We were here on vacation after my husband went into remission from an aggressive cancer of his immune system. He's doing great but we needed a clean unit, so I put a note in the reservation. The unit is very clean inside. No mildew or gunky stuff in caulk and the kitchen was clean too. It's an older property encased in sand on the outside of it by being literally part of the beach but the indoors is very clean. There were no odors or insects. We could relax on our deck at any time and he wakes up at 3AM every day and we could be out here before sunrise. I watched each morning until the sun was about to come over clouds at the horizon and went to the beach for sunrise with the dog. This is what I was looking for exactly. Worth the price to me.
If all you need a clean room to rest while enjoying the Outer Banks this place is for you. The hotel is literally across the street from the beach! Super convenient for a beach getaway. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful with checking in.
Recently had to evacuate from southern OBX an hour after our vacation started (Hurricane Erin), and found this gem in a hurry. We have nothing but the best things to say about this place! We loved everything about it: the rooms, the pool, location to the beach, the price, the staff, etc! We will definitely be returning, and shout out to Shaun and Valerie! Thank you for the BEST experience! ??????????
