We were a little hesitant to book this place for our last minute trip to OBX because the price was significantly less than places in the area. We are so glad we booked it. The room was clean, the facility felt safe and the staff was very pleasant and welcoming. For a "no frills" motel, it had everything we needed and were quite impressed. The proximity to a nice beach was less than a 5 minute walk. The satwater pool was very nice and clean without the chlorine sting or smell. We were pleased overall with the Hatteras Island Inn and feel that it was the best value for our visit to OBX.

We had a great stay here! This was a last-minute trip, and we were able to book a queen room without any issues. The room was very clean, smelled fresh, and was comfortable throughout our stay. We especially appreciated the dehumidifier, which helped keep the room cool and comfortable despite the coastal humidity. The pool was clean and well-maintained without an overwhelming chlorine smell. The location was also fantastic—the beach was just a short walk away, and there were plenty of restaurants and food options nearby. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again!

We booked a very last minute stay here, it was the only room available in between Hatteras and Avon…and also the cheapest, so I didn’t expect it to be nice - and it wasn’t. We only needed a place to shower and rest our heads for two nights, and overall, it got the job done. The beds were comfy, there was a TV with cable, check in was easy, and it’s in a very convenient location. However, there was a dehumidifier in our room that became full every 30 minutes and the room was still so humid. The rooms are carpet and the carpet felt wet from the humidity which is molds biggest dream. The bathroom had cracking in the wall behind the toilet, like the bathroom upstairs was leaking, or did previously. There was also mildew on the walls in the bathroom. Lastly, the drawers smelled super funky and had stains in them. I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

We were pleasantly surprised with this Inn. Room was very clean. Our AC didn't appear to blast as cold as we thought being on 68 degrees but we didn’t report it or turn down much lower to test it so probably could have been rectified with a phone call or lower adjustment. The front desk communicated very well to ease our check-in since we were not arriving until after 9pm. There's no one on duty past 8pm per staff we spoke to. Nonetheless, that was completely fine as the room doors are operated by numerical code. We were sent our information by text and email. We also checked out by text. The fridge and microwave were clean and operational. They definitely came in handy. We would definitely stay here again.

Customer service was great! The room not so much, for over $200 a night we got a fairly musty room, an ac unit that really couldn’t keep the room cold, and a there was a dehumidifier in the room.

Just going to have to rate this place as okay. There is never a front desk person, you have to call a number to get someone. There was no stopper for the tub. The coffee pot is super small and smelled moldy. A coffee pot in the hotel office area would be nice. The pool was not open yet and there is a water hose to wash off your feet when coming from the beach, however, we couldn't get it to work. The watchtower was cool though and the bed was comfortable. Memories were still made. Also keep in mind, there is still a tremendous amount of damage in the area from Hurricane Erin, and the light house is closed because it is being restored. Not 100% sure I would recommend or stay here again.

Such a wonderful place to stay. Great location. The bed was so comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Great room rates. We would recommend anyone to stay there. Nice room for the price.

This was a sweet, quiet little hotel and just the thing I needed after an adventurous day. It was clean and comfortable. The only drawbacks were that the desk closes at 9PM and that the accessible promo didn’t have grab bars at the toilet and one had to step over a tub wall to get into the shower.

We were trapped here in winter because of a storm. The manager opened it up for us and was very gracious, allowing us a super late checkout time to allow the roads to open. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
