The Cape Hatteras Motel offers oceanfront accommodations with a prime location near the beach and the town of Hatteras. While guests consistently praise the beautiful ocean views and friendly staff, particularly Jamie, concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance issues, and inconsistent service are prevalent throughout recent reviews.

We had a wonderful stay at the Cape Hatteras Motel. From the moment we arrived, we were met with wonderful hospitality from Jamie. He worked diligently to get our party checked in and gave us excellent directions on how to zooooooom! across the street over to our rooms. We booked the ocean front rooms and they were definitely ocean front! You couldn’t get a better view than that. The rooms were well kept and clean. The beds were comfortable and the sound of the ocean was so relaxing to fall asleep to. We spent the evening hanging out on the deck watching the dolphins jump around in the surf. Unfortunately, it was rainy so we didn’t get to experience the sunrise, however I imagine it would have been stunning. We will definitely be back to stay at the lovely Cape Hatteras Motel.

This place is absolutely amazing! We booked oceanfront hotel, and that’s exactly what we got! Jamie was at the desk he was super helpful very friendly took care of all of our needs. The hotel was clean and affordable, perfect views and the fact that though water came right up to the hotel was amazing loved listening to the sounds of the beach at night time definitely coming back will be our permanentCape Hatteras hotel

The office smells like mold, first thing i noticed when i first walked in. They told me that the room i got is across the street from the office because i got the ocean front and the office guy said we cannot park our vehicle there so we have to come back to the office and park our car at the office and need to walk across the street to go to our room. I was so concerned of our safety because it was dark over there and water everywhere because of high tide. The water from the ocean was under the motel. they are fixing the other half of the hotel to reinforced the structure so it won’t get swept away by the water. I told the guy that i don’t want to wake up in the middle of the ocean Because lately that exactly what happening there so i am kinda worried. So he gave me the keys to our room but when i get to my car i was so worried so I called the office back and requested if we can just stay at one of the rooms upstairs where the office at instead of across the street. I was scared. The lady answer the phone and she told me that the place has no available room which i think was BS. Because First, we noticed no cars on the property, second not a busy season. December 19 , 2025. I was so disappointed that they not even trying to help us, so My husband and i drove a few blocks away to Hatteras Island Inn and we are the 2nd guest staying at the hotel, like i said not a busy season. We ended up staying there for the night. My husband and i drove by the office again late that night to check if they were booked but no cars park there by the office, i was so disappointed. They don’t even try to help us. I will not stay at this hotel ever and i will not recommend this motel to anyone.

I wasn’t going to provide a review even though this has to be the worst hotel/motel we have ever stayed at, until we had no hot water. The on-site manager, Jamie, lied to my face and the General Manager, Melina Meadows, lied to our credit card company. Let me explain more… We stayed for two nights - at $500 a night! We thought the location was great, so close to the ocean - the view was beautiful, until high tide. The building was literally in the water and there was no beach. The parking lot completed flooded at high tide so you had to park across the street unless you wanted to walk through ankle deep water and potentially get your car stuck. When we first walked into our room, a spacious but RUN DOWN two bedroom (see pictures), the stench of cleaning supplies was overwhelming! Smelled horrible. And the room wasn’t even cleaned that well - nightstands and coffee tables were dirty. But there are only two people cleaning rooms (actually only two people working there on-site period!). We realized after the first night they are trying to mask the mold and mildew smell, which too was overwhelming once the cleaning supplies wore off! On our second day, we had no hot water. The hot water for the entire building was out. I have myself a sponge bath, my husband washed his hair in the kitchen sink and my son took a cold shower. Unacceptable for $500 a night! We didn’t get hot water back until check out day. Jamie, the on-site manager said she would call me in an hour and never did and then could never get in touch with her again - didn’t answer her cell or office phone. At check out, she said her manager would definitely credit part of one night which was all I was asking for. She said she would email me, but never did. I called many times with no answer and no return call, so I disputed the charge with my credit card company. The credit card company would only allow you to dispute the whole charge so I made it clear I was only asking for part of one night. Melinda Meadows called me after she received the dispute. She said she figured I was disputing due to the hot water issue - so she was well aware and she said she would take care of it. Unfortunately, she lied to me and lied to the credit card company saying I never complained during or after my stay. What a lying manipulative excuse for a person! Please don’t stay here unless you want a nasty smelling room with poor service and customer service! How can a place like that only have two people working! Ridiculous!!!

The location was amazing. We stayed in an ocean front suite and it was perfect! The staff was friendly and helpful but no housekeeping during our stay which was disappointing. There was also an amazing restaurant across the street, Fatty’s! For the most part the rooms were clean, however the couches had gross stains and the floors were slimy; almost like it was sprayed with something but never wiped up. It could definitely be updated, especially for the prices we paid. Not sure we would stay again but not a total bust either as we were there specifically for the ocean.

Jamie has been exceptional, first off. The rooms are a little dated but again as someone said, you quickly forget it and just enjoy the view. Which you’re literally maybe 50ft if not less away from the water. I can’t get over how enjoyable it is to lay in bed and listen to the waves crash all night. However, the rooms do include a nice size refrigerator. AC in the rooms is very good as well. The area is extremely quiet, except for the occasional seagull scream — which is weirdly enjoyable as well. The bed is super comfortable, along with good running water. We’ve stayed at places that had really hard water (metallic smell) so the water here is very refreshing. Overall, I highly recommend this motel. You will NOT be disappointed.

We stayed here for one night and will not be return customers. Acknowledging it was “pre-season” and there was an island wide cell/internet outage the say we checked in, the whole experience was disappointing. We tried to check in around 6:00pm so the we could enjoy our ocean front porch, and no one was in the motel office. We waited about 20 minutes before we left for dinner. We returned after dinner and someone was there to check us in. The room was 56 degrees when we entered. The mini fridge was off and there was standing water in the bottom of it. The bedspread, towels and bath mat had stains on them, one towel had holes in it. In the morning I went to make coffee and was greeted with a filthy countertop.

Highly recommend! The owner kindly waited for us until 9:30pm to check in. The room is spacious(have 2 bedrooms with four beds in total), the beds are comfortable and there is a kitchen to cook. Also the ocean view is beautiful! Will definitely come back again!

I will come back here every year. We came at a bad time with king tides and flooding, but the managers were amazing making sure we had everything we needed and that we were ok. The room was clean and had everything in it that we needed for our stay. The location was hit the hardest with floods, but he was out every day from daylight to dark making sure the parking lot was cleared.
