Wonderful OBX midweek treat. We traveled from Durham NC for a midweek break of 3 days and 2 nights and stayed in the Oleander room. Very comfortable king bed, jacuzzi tub and second floor balcony overlooking the beautiful rear grounds of the Inn. The morning views of the sound were just as peaceful as the sunset at twilight. We enjoyed walking on the dock path and sitting by the sound at night under the stars. The food was awesome. We shared a veggie omelet and french toast at breakfast and the fresh catch and tuna at dinner. Hard to describe how good the food was. The weather was beautiful and in early June, the beaches and surrounding activities weren’t crowded. We walked the beach, went to the area lighthouses, visited the museum in Hatteras and even flew a kite. Our stay at the Inn was a perfect base for a perfect midweek escape.

Great atmosphere. Clean. The wrought iron chairs were uncomfortable. Everyone at my table loved their food and drinks except for me. I ordered the tuna with pineapple salsa. I was expecting the pineapple salsa to be a little sweet, not too spicy for me to eat. Unfortunately, I found it entirely too spicy and was not able to eat very much of it until I ordered some sour cream to go along with it.... There was no warning on the menu that it was even a little spicy...I suppose I should have asked.... The waitress was very friendly and sweet. But we had to wait a long time to get our desserts and then she forgot mine, and I had to wait even longer to get it.... the others who ordered desserts were finished by the time i got mine. I asked for decaf coffee with my desert but that is not available at the restaurant upstairs..... only downstairs in the morning, very disappointing when you don't want to be up late due to the caffeine.

Went this past weekend for a family wedding. What a beautiful location. I saw several rooms and each had a view of the sound. Magnolia was my favorite room. The Inn has a pool, small beach and lots of floats, paddle boards, canoes to keep you entertained. The water is shallow for the little ones. Cafe was great for breakfast and brunch. Did not do dinner, but met a local who said the cafe was the best for dinner. Service was slow so take your time, especially at brunch but it might have been that there were 16 of us. Staff is exceptionally friendly. From the front desk to the cafe staff to the housekeepers. Made you feel welcome and cared for. Great fire pit to spend a late afternoon or evening with if you don’t want to sit on your porch. There is also a small movie room for the little ones. Definitely fits the bill for a family or a romantic get away Area has lots of shops and some nightlife. Highly recommend .

We greatly enjoyed our time at the Inn on Pamlico Sound. The moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel at home. The property is gorgeous and there are many spots to relax and enjoy the views. Though it was a little chilly to use the bikes and kayaks we appreciated them being available and will hope to come back and use them in the warmer weather. Our room had a great view from the balcony, the beds and sheets were very comfortable and cozy. We loved how they brought fresh coffee to the little living room area each morning. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are staying in Buxton area! We cannot wait to come back on our next trip to the Outer Banks!

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at The Inn on Pamlico Sound. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, with breathtaking views of the Sound that made every sunrise and sunset special. The atmosphere is charming and relaxing, creating the perfect coastal getaway. What truly set this place apart, though, was the personable staff — they treated us like personal guests rather than just visitors. We can’t wait to come back!

Spotlessly clean. Yes…staying was the best choice even in February. Since it was closed we were disappointed about dinner but were very pleased with the included breakfast. Music ambience was delightful. “ Happy “ the dog, sums it all up nicely.

We completely loved every bit of our stay at The Inn at Pamlico Sound! It is beautiful inside and out. The view is amazing and what was so positively shocking was how quiet it was there. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. If you are looking to disconnect from everything, I highly recommend!! The staff was super nice, personable and accommodating. I am looking forward to our return!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I arrived late (10pm) and easily found my room with the emailed instructions. Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed that it was very clean and tidy. I saw the whirlpool tub and knew that's where I'd be spending the next hour before bed. The whirlpool tub was very spacious and the hot water did not run out. The plumbing could use an update. The drains were rusted and the sink had a hard time draining. The bed was pretty comfy if you sleep in the middle of it. The left and right sides were indented from im assuming years of guests. I liked that all the windows had curtains. (You'd be surprised how many hotels don't) The food the next morning was phenomenal. I got the Monte Cristo and it really hit the spot. Got into an intriguing conversation with a local and the owner. The waitress was also very pleasant. The view is also phenomenal. It called my nerves after my previous night's nerve wracking 10 hour drive and the lack of sleep that followed. My sleep is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. The floors are thin and I could hear people walking around starting at 7am nonstop. I put in ear plugs and turned the TV on to the sounds of a rainstorm to hopefully drown out the loud noises of I'm fairly certain where people checking out early and then the cleaners upstairs. I banged on the floor above me with a chair and the noise stopped for maybe 15 minutes, but continued after. I decided to try and ignore it and sleep, but, alas I was defeated. I thought about calling the front desk, but at that point it would have been pointless. After i'm unpleasantly awoken, a displeasure conversation would only keep me up more. So I decided to just wake up 3 hours prior to my alarm. So after the 10 hr drive the previous night I got about 5 hrs of sleep instead of 8 and had to drive 9 more hours today..... tired ??? so while the inn is nice, the location and food is amazing, and the staff is friendly, the whole point of an inn is to sleep... which I was unable to do.

when my now husband and i discussed marriage, i had already known the place i wanted to get married was the Inn on Pamlico Sound. he asked me to marry him Memorial Day weekend 2024, and we booked them as our venue the next weekend. Steve and Meredith and their team remained in constant communication with us regarding every detail, question we had, vendor choices, etc. the dinner options were so hard to choose from but we ultimately decided on the taco bar - because, tacos, duh! we had the chipotle chicken, ground beef, and blackened catch of the day which ended up being mahi mahi. i’ve never been so hype to eat tacos in my life, everything was amazing! and then the home made tortilla chips and salsa just added icing to the cake! everything was delicious and was served hot and ready as our guests were seated - it wasn’t sitting in warming bins just waiting for the ceremony to be over. not only is the venue itself beautiful and stands out, the food and staff made our experience and our guests’ experience truly unforgettable. my husband and i currently live on hatteras island and we will definitely be doing our anniversary dinners at Cafe Pamlico, and i’m already looking forward to it!!! thank you Steve, Meredith, and all staff involved in our day! you all worked your tails off to make everything come together and we so appreciate yall!

We had the most wonderful experience during our stay for my cousin’s wedding—truly exceptional in every way. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond, demonstrating a level of attentiveness, friendliness, and genuine care that exceeded all expectations. Our 4-year-old son has several food allergies, and being in a remote location could have been stressful, but the team handled everything with remarkable thoughtfulness and care, making us feel completely at ease. Our room was beautifully appointed, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The wedding itself was flawless—the flow, the food, and the service were all impeccable. Every detail was handled with such professionalism and warmth. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and are already looking forward to our next visit! A+ in every aspect. Truly unforgettable.
