Lighthouse View Oceanfront Lodging consistently receives positive feedback, praised for its convenient location, clean rooms, and friendly staff. Guests appreciate the access to the beach, pool, and nearby amenities. While some concerns regarding room maintenance and value have been raised, the overall experience is viewed as positive.
My husband and I stayed here a few months ago and we loved it so much we decided to come back again. We called to make sure everything was ok due to the storm surge and the loss of several homes nearby but the staff assured us they were OK and the grounds were fine. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the grounds were beautifully kept and the rooms were clean as usual. We will definitely be coming back again!
We spent two nights ( 9/5 - 9/6/2025) at this wonderful hotel. We had an upstair unit with an oceanview The room was nicely decorated in a modern day beach vibe, the beds were comforable , towels were fluffy and absorbent. We slept with the windows open and was lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea. We also used the spa and pool. Perfect I hope to return, and tell everyone about this gem of a family business
We stayed there in April, August, and September, with guests. The view was amazing, the pool was great, and check in and out were convenient. Seeing the wildlife, including dolphins, was a treat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
This place is fantastic!! We stayed a few nights here prior to our check in at a house further up north! This place was wonderful!! The room was clean!!!!!! We stayed on the third floor and had an ocean front king bed room….it was super comfortable and honestly the 3 flights of steps was not bad! The staff swept them daily and the parking was very convenient! Sergio the maintenance guy helped us into our room d/t a minor malfunction with our keyless entry! Shoutout to Sergio!! Did I mention …. The room was CLEAN?!?! (Shout out to Caty in Housekeeping) We will definitely visit here again! We enjoyed the quiet and calmness that Buxton had to offer! Love , love , love this cozy little vibe!!! (Not my photo)
The view from our cottage was beautiful, we had nice easy access to the beach we were in a great location. It would be nicer if they could invest a little bit more into the rooms, our fridge made a lot of cracking sounds for some reason, there’s occasionally a lone cockroach OUTSIDE on the deck. The kitchenette was great and is pretty clean! TVs had a good amount of channels and the customer support was very good! They replied really quickly and positive, overall it’s worth the stay!
This is not a bad motel but for $270 a night, including the taxes and fees (in 2025), I expected better. The room was nicely renovated but the bathroom was old and small. The plastic shower insert was permanently stained, the old shower head had green corrosion, and the wall paint was peeling. The coastline in front of the hotel is not a beach. It's a narrow, short stretch of sand with big sandbags along its entire length to prevent the ocean from eroding the sand away. We didn't go there any of the 6 days we were there and saw very few people there every time we went to look at the ocean; we always went to Frisco Beach, the closest beach with showers and bathrooms, 20 min away, which was very nice. The motel does not claim to be beachfront, but I think the price should reflect that. In the room there was a piece of paper encouraging us to tip our cleaning lady via Zelle or Apple pay. Again, I would have thought that for the price they charge, they would pay their cleaning staff a fair wage and wouldn't need to ask for tips. The good things about this motel, besides the renovated rooms, are the location and the fact that it doesn't look or feel like a typical motel. Instead of being one large building, it's several smaller buildings connected on the outside by staircases and boardwalks. The area is quiet and quaint. There's a well-stocked, small supermarket 5 min away, a lighthouse with a maritime museum 2 minutes away, and an awesome restaurant (Tavern on 12) 20 min away. Frisco Beach (west of the hotel), which is a south-facing beach, is great and not too crowded in August, and there are many very quiet east-facing beaches north of the hotel, but they don't have bathrooms or showers. I loved staying in the southern Outer Banks, but if I come back, I'll look for other accommodations.
This is an excellent place, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, good looking, and comfortable. The ocean view from the deck is wonderful; shared, but just outside your door. We booked directly and last minute and the price was good. Couldn’t be happier with our experience. Communication with management, via text, was great. The beach is also great and right there, though I worry that ocean seems to be encroaching a bit. Multiple outdoor showers and foot washing stations were very convenient. These do not offer privacy, so they’re just for washing sand off. Also, the fish cleaning tables are a nice amenity, yet far enough away from the buildings as not to bother guests. A+
OVERPRICED!!!!! They blame it on insurance rates which I agree are ridiculous. But the fact remains that I can find 5 bedroom oceanfront houses for the same price the last week in June. The motel suites are 1 bedroom efficiencies. With no amenities. You have to change your own sheets, vacuum and clean the rooms. No restaurant or bar on premises. The location is still great but the beach is very small. Bottom line is we have been staying there for 30 years. I can do all inclusive with airfare to many resorts for the same price they are charging. Love the people there and the location. Just can’t justify the price any longer.
Stayed here Thanksgiving week and it was perfect! Location was fantastic! Had easy access to everything Avon, Buxton, and Hatteras had to offer. Staff was super friendly. The txting system was great and check-in was easy. Would definitely stay again. Even saw dolphins right infront of my unit on the last day.
Nice room on 3rd floor overlooking the ocean. Quiet, though we were off season and had the beach to ourselves with nice warm weather. Check in was easy, check out easier. Clean and great location.
