The Mariner Inn & Suites offers a budget-friendly option with direct beach access and a convenient location in the Outer Banks. However, recent reviews highlight significant cleanliness concerns, outdated facilities, and inconsistent service, with a recurring theme of mildew and unpleasant odors. Despite some positive comments about staff friendliness and value, many guests report issues that require attention.

BEWARE of this place, it is filthy and totally unacceptable!!! Dehumidifier in the rooms, outdated, smell of pet urine. My son has very bad allergies and after 20 minutes could not breathe. Tried to relocate to another room but just as bad if not worse. Had to book another hotel for three day weekend. Hotel refuses to give any refund. Manager will not reply to me or Expedia. I’ll have to take the loss but very unfair. Looks like a bargain but far from it. Pictures are all outdated. STAY AWAY!!!!

The room was good. I enjoyed the separate sitting area. The bed was so comfortable! One drawer of the dresser was broke and we did let management know about it. Breakfast was eggs, bagels, toast and muffins. I would have liked fruit. Ice maker was broken. Remotes for the tv didn’t work until they changed out the batteries. TVs worked for about 15 minutes and then went off. They said spectrum was having an issue. We had the maintenance guy spend about 20 minutes trying to get it to work. When he left, we had 4 Spanish speaking channels on the living room tv and 4 stations on the bedroom tv (luckily it was the Olympics ). But again it was sporadic in working.

My sister and I escaped the chaos of families for the weekend and we had a super relaxing visit. We regrouped and were able to tolerate our husbands, kids and animals again after returning!? We thought our suite was PUUUUUURRRRRFFFFEEECCCTTTT!!! Office staff AMAZING!! !! Location was breathtaking!! I enjoyed the breakfast and the all day coffee!!! I personally prefer to have the old style breeze ways instead of having to go through a lobby- this old style suits me super! I will def return during the warmer months as a walk on the beach with temp in the 20’s and 30’s with wind chill making the temp feel like the teens! All in all… a super great get away!!!

I come to the OBX for work and stay at the Mariner for the central convenience of the location. The staff may not answer the phone but when you see them, they are always friendly and helpful. I love the warm greetings i receive from the staff. They even had a jump box for when my battery in my car died. I'm thankful for the Mariner. Most likely, my next stay so be here too! I love the easy access to the beach too!

On a positive note, the front desk person was very sweet. On a not-so-positive note, I had a hard time sleeping in the room due to a blinking blue light on the wall. There were some crumbs in one of the beds. The room temperature was finicky and loud. I couldn't get the TV to work properly. Not much of a breakfast situation, I think there were only pancakes. You could easily smell the cigarette smoke from with the room. Beach access and location was great.

Very nice friendly staff. A wonderful oceanfront location to walk on the beach in the Winter. I like the microwave, frig and being able to make coffee or Tea in the room. Note: bring your own tea bags. Lots of TV channels. Love Hallmark for the holidays. Sat outside on the nice wooden chairs reading. This is an oldie but goodie place that locals come back to when they move away from the beach ?

Staff was very helpful and made us feel seen and cared for. Rooms need help. Mold smell was tremendously overpowering. Then the marijuana smells from our neighbors took over. The two pungent odors fought for dominance all night. Tub wasn't draining very well; showered with several inches of water the whole time. Table and nightstands had sticky messes all over. Heat was jacked to almost 90 degrees and took several hours to cool down while being 45 degrees outside. Free breakfast was not great. Pancakes were hard as rocks. Eggs may have given me a nasty bathroom visit afterwards. The biscuits were pretty good but had a crunchy bottom, which made me think they were either old or sat in the chafing dish so long they overcooked. Won't be staying ever again.

We have been traveling across country the past three weeks. We try and stay in places that provide good value. We have been staying mostly in Wyndam properties and have been mostly disappointed. The Mariner Inn has been the best place we have stayed in our three weeks of travel. I love their door locking system that uses the last for of your phone number and no cards. The room was big and clean. The breakfast was good. Location right on the beach. We will stay here again.

This is our second time staying Here and other than the climb up the stairs and a few outdated issues with the room e erything was great. Sand on floor is to be expected when staying at the beach Our bed covers upon arrival had sand on them you could feel.it but the sheets were soft clean bed was comfortable. Bathrooms are small but fir just the two if us we were fine. Breakfast was pretty mu h the same e everyday. No sausage ir bacon.just pancakes. Omletts toast bagels. Cereal. But it was free so I'm not really complaining. New door locks with codes are very nice!! Will definitely be back.

My family and friends always enjoy our stay here. Staff is always friendly (Laura has been taking care of us for years now! -thank you!), free breakfast, pool and right on the beach access and great prices -can’t get any better than that! Rooms are always nice and clean. They are doing some “updating” to the property, and so far it is really coming along! Thank you all -and we will see you soon ?
