I paid a little over $250 for this room for one night. We love to fish so we spend our day in the sun and all I wanted was a shower. The hotel called me at 7pm and asked when I planned on showing up. We arrived 830pm after receiving an entry code to access our room since they do not have front desk staff. The ceiling was covered black spots and the shower tub was horrifying. I didn't even want to shower in it. My fiance and I both woke up with lower back pain because of how old and stiff the mattress was. And the older wall unit a/c was either too hot or too cold, no in between. I understand I sound like Goldilocks and that it is peak season but I don't think it is right to charge top dollar for low quality. I hope management reads this to fix these issues. Just pay a little more for a better hotel.

We stayed one night, 2 adults and a baby. First external impression: good location with basic shops in walking distance and quiet. We arrived during daylight to change clothes and inspected the room for bugs and cleanliness. Didn’t see any bugs but the room had a strong smell and floors and bedding weren’t the cleanest but it was tolerable. Wasn’t comfortable having my baby on the floors or top bedding, only the sheets. We left to eat dinner and came back at dark. We arrived to find German cockroach nymphs crawling EVERYWHERE but mainly by the kitchen area and bathroom. I just noticed some other reviewers had the same experience when arriving at dark. Nymphs means there’s a serious breeding issue/nest nearby. Had no time at that point to find somewhere else to stay with a crying baby who was ready for bed, so asked to get moved to a different room. No bugs in this room that we could see, but the chair, floors, and top bedding were filthy, had the same odd smell. Stains everywhere. Air conditioner barely worked in this room. Bed was very squeaky. Really made our visit unpleasant and stressful. Couldn’t get anyone to come to the desk the next morning.

Unfortunately my stay was nothing like the reviews I seen. First the room wasn't the cleanest, the floor was dirty. Second, the bed was hard as a floor but not as dirty as the floor. (thank God) Third, the walls are so thin you can hear the neighbors blink.(only slightly exaggerating) We only stayed the night because we were leaving early in the morning and around 11pm people started talking and laughing so loud by our room. Then they started playing music! I had to call the front desk for them to fix the issue. The music stopped but the loud talking, laughing, and banging on the walls continued until about 3am. The AC in the room struggled to keep us cool. I believe this is a motel that people actually live in. You get what you pay for and thats exactly what happened. I can say I will never be staying at a place like this again. The front desks hospitality was great but that wasn't enough to make up for how bad the rest of the stay was. I had to put niose canceling headphones on in order to drift off to sleep, then was woken up multiple times because the room was unbearably hot. I checked the reviews before booking so I was sold but they must be paid reviews, bot reviews, or the people that live there. The reviews are so misleading. (Honestly my feelings were hurt ?????) Yes the price is good but not good enough for what we experienced. 0 out of 10 do NOT recommend, unless you can handle section 8 living.

Took a weekend getaway to OBX and stayed here. Very convenient location. Didn't have any contact with anyone (which is a win for my social anxiety). Got an email for checkin details and received a code to unlock our room. NO KEYCARDS! loved it! Clean well-kept rooms! And get this.... they offer a 3rd party room service! Ice machine, vending machine, atm, etc. Very affordable with jersey mikes right next door and 2 grocery stores and family dollar a block away! Will be returning!

C: Why are they awesome? 1. Do not delve into your personal business staying professional. 2. Have call in reserve passcode options. 3. Bath water is nice and Hot 4. Towel stacked under a few folded together to make it look like a clam. 5. Rooms smell good. 6. Linens nice & clean. 7. Staff is responsive after called after hours. 8. Smack near a Wash House & other shopping. 9. Police monitors their main in an out roads for safety at night. 10.Great prices you can't beat in the OBX area. 11.They have NEVER let me down as my favorite Motor Lodge. 12. Love shells used around the mirror frame.

Great place to stay Room 114 was very clean and comfortable. Anytime I visit the OBX I will be taking there for sure.. Room prices are great again thanks had a great stay

Rooms were ok, clean. Biggest problem is the bed had messed up springs and was really uncomfortable. Water pressure in the bath was really weak as well, so hard to take a shower.

Just spent holiday in Manteo and stayed at the Heart of Manteo. Rates are excellent, the rooms are fine, has all the basics. Management is excellent and always out to please and make your stay enjoyable. Will be using them again.

This hotel has become my go to for my many fishing trips to the OBX. My groups are composed of 6 men and we fish out of either Pirates Cove Marina (5 minutes away) or the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center (15 minutes). The rooms are clean, serviceable and the cost is far less than hotels on the beach in Nags Head. My groups have stayed here 10-15 times a year for the last couple of years. No, it’s not right on the beach, but we don’t need it to be and don’t want to pay twice as much.

This a excellent value classic retro motel that's very well maintained. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, towels luxury and great location right in historic Manteo. We lost a wallet while we were staying and the manager and staff went beyond what you would expect to help us retrieve it. Fantastic people!
