A wonderful motel. The staff(Joyce) is so awesome. The room was great. Clean and inviting. A very safe family atmosphere. The pool is very nice. Just steps from the ocean. We liked it so much we booked another stay in August.

These rooms are not ocean front nor ocean view like they are described. Only the houses they have available are actually ocean view/front. Rooms are clean but very outdated and small. Beds could use replaced but pillows were great. WORST shower I've ever been in, so small and not functional.

This is an amazing place to stay! They are super pet friendly and have cute little cottages! I love the private beach access and plenty of parking. I've never been in peak season but can imagine it's quite busy. We will continue to frequent on long weekends with our pups! They went out of their way for us this stay with it being off season and we greatly appreciate it! Thank you Sandspur staff and family ??

Oh man, where to start... customer service is top notch! They are so kind, so helpful, so sweet and just wonderful people!! The rooms are cute and cozy. If you're looking for the old school, chill, relaxed beach motel and cottages, this is it!! The bathrooms are small, which isn't a complaint, just letting others know. The pool area is nice and clean and i love that there are 2 outdoor showers. It is feet away from the beach which is prefect for Early risers to watch the sunrise!! I absolutely loved relaxing on our little porch at night after the kids went to bed, just enjoying the awesome ocean air and enjoying time with my husband. There is a laundry facility which is awesome! They provide you with two rolls of toilet paper and then you have to supply your own. It's in a great spot, plenty of restaurants, shopping and tourism spots nearby! My only complaint... I had to leave and come home! Lol, vacationing in OBX is never long enough! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Sandspur, we'll be back next year!!

This place is a gem. Its like going back in time to how the beach used to be. Spacious clean rooms with a kitchen, outdoor furniture, grills, dollar laundry, clean pool and just a few steps to the beach. Location is fantastic and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Go before places like this disappear, I guarantee you will not regret it.

Just as advertised! Easy access to the beach, which was not too crowded. The pool was well maintained and also not too crowded. We had a small cottage with kitchenette. The kitchen was well stocked with silverware, plates, dishtowels and pots and pans. Rooms are small but clean and the office staff was very helpful when we needed them. Housekeeping came by twice during our week long stay to refresh bathroom linens etc. Highly recommend!

A great place for the family to hang out. It had good access to the beach and a washing station with a couple showers and a foot wash. One of the staff ran over and made sure we got in the room easily which was helpful because I didn’t read the door code instructions. I chose this place mainly because it’s pet friendly and was glad to see the other one or two guests with dogs all being respectful and keeping them leashed. The rooms are just fine for the great price, a little older style and ice cold AC. There are some great dining options close by as well. Truly excited to return to this place for hopefully a longer visit.

The Sand Spur Motel is a nice little getaway on the Outer Banks that I really enjoyed. We stayed in Room 13, which is one of the smaller, efficiency rooms. It was cozy and clean. It had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and two comfortable, queen-sized beds. The room would probably be better for a couple for a long weekend or a solo traveler for a week. It felt a little cramped by the end of our week. My biggest complaint was that the toilet/shower room didn't have a working vent fan or window. Some of the rooms are pet friendly and you couldn't tell beyond the fact that someone's dog used our TV remote as a chew toy; it did still work though. The office and cleaning staff were all helpful and kind for the minor things we needed help with. The pool was clean and the outdoor showers to get the sand off at the end of the day were a nice touch. The motel itself is right on the beach, and some of the bigger cottage suites even have decks that look out onto the ocean. We could hear the ocean from our room and it's just a short walk over the dune to get to the beach. Note, it might be difficult for people with mobility issues to get back up the dune from the beach, as the steps are mostly in the sand; this isn't a knock against the motel, it's to be expected with beach erosion. We were also glad that all the rooms have keypads instead of keys that we didn't have to worry about. Overall, we were incredibly satisfied with our stay at The Sand Spur and would definitely come back and stay in a slightly larger room next time.

This place is a hidden gem. If you can appreciate the old Nags Head homes for their charm, you will like these cottages. Linens, bath towels and beds are fine. Cottages are old, but clean with tile and vinyl plank floors in room 16. We stayed at the end of March and they have come twice a day to ensure the year round pool is taken care of. Affordable, pet friendly and the best beachfront location. You can’t beat it.

I am just blown away, the room is amazing, air and heat, TV and cable, stove, coffee maker and microwave, including silverware, cookware and dishes were clean and the fridge and freezer was spot on. Laundry room was super convenient and well as the pool out back. Best place we've ever stayed at as well as the deal for four nights? Nobody can beat that! 10/10
