This motel is a DUMP. The parking lot is a complete cramped unorganized joke. People smoke cigarettes sitting right outside your door and it floods the rooms with smoke. Even the maid smokes while cleaning the rooms (after you check out because they don't do anything while you're there). Stained sheets, stained towels, sand all over the floors, broken box-spring under a 30+ years old mattress... and all this for $200+a night! Completely ruined a week vacation and our first impressions of OBX. Definitely a one and done trip, will not be back.

Such a great stay at a convenient location! Walked right to the beach, room was clean and had a cute fridge and microwave. Staff and housecleaning were so friendly! Would definitely return. ?

Exceeded all of my expectations.. cozy little rooms , a throwback to the 1950s motor lodges .. right on the beach .. nice pool .. friendly staff ..clean rooms . Nothing high tech or super fancy ..simple and efficient..I mean hey your gonna be on the beach all day ..or fishing or shopping.. so how fancy do you want a room your not gonna stay in except to sleep and shower .. pet friendly. Quiet crowd ..easy beach access.amd walking distance to a lot of restaurants and stores if you like to walk. 4 minutes walk to Sam and omies restaurant.. will be back that's a promise.

I can’t say enough positive things about this motel! The property is in the perfect location right on the beach and close to everything. The property has also been renovated, the rooms are nice, clean, and I loved all the outdoor seating and grills guests can use. I also loved that the property is so dog friendly and everyone who worked there is extremely helpful and friendly! This is definitely our new go-to spot for relaxation! I highly recommend!!!! I genuinely have absolutely no negative or “constructive” feedback about this place or the staff and cannot comprehend how the google reviews aren’t 5 stars across the board because it’s a perfect spot for a beach vacation!

Myself, my husband and our dog stayed here 1 night during our multistate vacation. The room was small but very clean and I loved the retro looking mini fridge and microwave. You are literally steps away from the beach here and some rooms appeared to have sliding doors that opened up to the beach. There was also a pool on site. The price was very good and the dog fee was very cheap ($10), much better than most other properties. The owner was very nice and lives on site. I would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Nags Head again!

Hotel is clean, simple but just what we were looking for, our complaint is not about the hotel so much as the lack of consideration by other hotel guests outside talking so loudly for hours. After 9pm please think of others trying to enjoy their stay as well ..please, and thank you

I've stayed here multiple times and I have no complaints. It's clean and affordable. Dolphin Oceanfront Motel is within walking distance to Jeanette's Pier, Sam & Omie's (an iconic restaurant for those new to OBX), and has ocean access just a few steps from your room. They have a few rooms that let out right onto the beach. These rooms let out between two dunes, which allows for an awesome view from the room or the sitting area out side. They are pet friendly, which was a blessing when our dog sitter cancelled at the last minute. The only complaint I can possibly think of is the door lock kept getting stuck on us -- which was not a big deal to us.

So happy with our stay at the Dolphin Motel, room was spotless, beautiful view stepping right onto the beach. I highly recommend upgrading to the ocean front room, it is so worth it! Great service and nice little pool on the property too

Overall I REALLY liked it here. There are definite pros and cons so decide what is best for your situation. Pros 1st Pet friendly. Everyone seemed to have and love dogs. Big plus Right on the beach, literal steps away. Clean rooms, Incredibly helpful and friendly employees-Like ALL of them Good Price for the area Location was exactly where we wanted to stay Grounds had swings, tables and bbq grills plus chairs outside the rooms Coffee, microwave and fridge in the room Bed was comfy Has a pool Cons I would not want to stay here alone. The doors used old fashioned keys and there was no safety bar inside. There were several windows in the room that opened including one in the bathroom. Very old building and you could hear the plumbing/AC units, and water from other rooms. No frills, small shower, loud window AC The parking lot was small and right outside your room, so you heard every vehicle start, pull in etc People sat outside their room drinking and smoking and it got pretty loud. They were all friendly though, no issues. Just loud Overall, they were exactly what they claim to be. I would stay here again

The rooms are upgraded, clean and decorated so cute. Very quaint little place and right on the beach! Friendly and feels like home. Pet friendly. We will definitely come back here for sure.
