Seahorse Inn and Cottages offers budget-friendly accommodations with a convenient location close to the beach and local attractions. However, recent reviews highlight significant maintenance issues, cleanliness concerns, and inconsistent service, suggesting a decline in quality compared to previous stays. Some guests found the rooms dated and noisy, with issues ranging from broken toilets to cockroach sightings.
We had the best time. The manager on duty/front desk had such a good attitude and was very funny. He deserves recognition. The location is perfect with beach right across the street and a restaurant right beside the hotel. 10/10
The location is definitely what sells this place! We came for our honeymoon and were disappointed that our room didn't get cleaned and we didn't get clean towels. (2 towels for an entire weekend) The one staff member I encountered the entire stay didn't look friendly enough for me to approach.
Last minute booking on a road trip and got what we paid for. We arrived after midnight and just needed somewhere to sleep and I am happy we were only here for on night. The parking is limited with a very narrow lot, the building is dated and creaky and you can hear every sound on the property. There was a balcony right outside our room where people were smoking and drinking and loud and the we could smell the smoke inside. The rooms were clean enough but the toilet was broken and would not flush and it was so late that there was no front desk attendant to contact. Needless to say, we used this spot for a nights sleep and did not linger once we woke up. As long as you go in with the understanding that this is a budget spot and nothing else, you will be fine. We were travelling with our young children and did not find this a suitable accommodation for them.
Actually a very clean and nice place to stay for the price. Water pressure absolutely sucks. And the floors and walls are thin so you hear every foot step above you and mind you it's the beach so people are coming in and out all night. But I would definitely stay there again
I stayed in room 326 . my experience from reserving my room last month, to check in, to my stay, thru to ? out was absolutely amazing! I love this hotel. their prices are awesome esp the pet stay fees are so cheap and the rooms are up to date super clean all fresh white bath towels and wash cloths pure white no stains, rooms are spotless and well stocked, it's very friendly atmosphere apl guests are sociable and kind, very happy vibes here. there's a sectioned off place to take your pet to potty and everyone picks up their own mess, the staff is the nicest I've ever encountered at any hotel I have ever lived at or stayed at while working over the road and traveling.. he's amazing and kind and will do anything he can to help you have the best stay possible.. very accommodating, you have very good privacy here as well, it's very safe, very quiet and peaceful the beds are super comfortable and clean fresh linens, I love how you lock your door and unlock with your phone number it less hassle keeping up with a magnetized key, family friendly for sure here it's the greatest hotel stay I've had ever and I'm coming BK only to this hotel every time I visit the outer banks and I'm actually thinking bout moving here now so I'll be coming by to stay at this hotel while planning on where to move my RV.. it's a ten out of five stars on every level!! close to everything also! the staff will def go out of their way with smiles on their faces to help you enjoy yourself here.apl the rooms and cottages smell great as well due to no smoking inside.. this hotel is a game changer highly advise you book here you can't eat the price esp for the greatness of this place! ima very very happy satisfied guest like I said I'll only stay here while in the obx ty seahorse inn and cottages for your wonderful hospitality
We stayed at the Sea Horse Inn for 3 days recently. It’s fine. It is what I expected for what I paid. I’m not sure what some of these reviewers here are expecting. This is one of the cheapest properties in all of the OBX. Don’t expect Club Med. For us the worst thing was the couch. It was filthy. Should be cleaned or replaced. We covered it with an extra blanket from the room. The bed was comfy and bedding was clean. The bathroom was clean albeit a bit beaten up. The shower had acceptable pressure and hot water. Tip; pay a little extra for a kitchenette room. You get a little cottage on the ground floor with parking right in front. Also, they have a nice little shaded sitting area right outside the door. We used this area a lot. Being across the street from Cahoon’s market is a huge bonus. We walked over several time a day for our needs. I would consider staying here again.
We have stayed twice. The first time was in the cottages. They were okay. They are older so you can't expect modern etc. You'll share a connecting door with whoever is in the cottage next to you but it does lock. However, the walls are thin so be prepared to hear everything and it was moldy(beach life). We decided this time to stay in the hotel to see if it was any better and we were only staying one night before going to our condo. This will for sure be the last time. Hotel room is spacious but the sheets were dirty, the towels were dirty, there was hair in the shower and a hair clip in the floor. Clearly not cleaned well. The positive, they allow pets, across from Jeanette's Pier , right next to Sam and Omies and the people are really nice that own it.
2” long roachs. Not even the room we were supposed to be getting. Stove don’t work right. Person at the desk is clueless.Floor is about 2” out of level. Do not stay at this place. Person you are booking the room from is a third party.Price’s are not consistent.
DO NOT STAY HERE OR EVEN CONSIDER IT! PICTURES ARE DECEIVING! Made reservations for a cottage with kitchenette. Upon arrival was given a small, outdated one. Cottage was extremely wet inside from condensation, the bed, windows, mirrors, floor and had an awful musty stench. Extremely small, outdated and run down. Loud neighbors in adjoining cottage. Went straight to office for resolution and was told they were booked up and had no more rooms or cottages available. My wife and I went elsewhere to stay. I went though Booking.com for my reservation and after contacting them several times for help (NOT) and disputing the charges and Booking.com's policy, I am out several hundred dollars! DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP LIKE WE DID! DO NOT CONSIDER STAYING HERE and don't use Booking.com to your make reservations, they will leave you hanging in situations like ours!!
We booked here just for a place to lay our heads a few extra days before our beach house was ready for the week. We rented one of the rooms and honestly for the price it was just what we expected. We did have to use the virtual check-in, it went smoothly. The owner was on site which was good because both our keys needed re-programmed due to us having them close to our phones earlier that day. All in all I would stay again. The only real downfall was we were on the top floor & although the view was nice, my knees were feeling it by the last day. Location wise it was awesome, walking distance to the pier, ice cream and even a few options for lunch or dinner.
