We had a wonderful experience. Our room was large and comfortable. There was a beautiful view of the water and we loved sitting out on the deck. The staff were very pleasant and provided us with information on local dining and attractions. Great place to celebrate our anniversary.

Our stay at the Burrus House Inn was absolutely exceptional. We stayed in the Mary Carolyn suite in the Main Inn, and it was even more beautiful in person than in the photos. The design has that perfect modern, upscale coastal feel that’s difficult to get right, but Burrus House absolutely nailed it. The suite was elegant, relaxing, and incredibly comfortable. — One of our favorite features was the two decks—especially the private side deck overlooking Roanoke Sound. We spent time there every day watching both the sunrise and sunset, and the views were spectacular. It was peaceful, scenic, and truly unforgettable. — What made our visit even more special was Donnamae, the interim innkeeper. She was amazing—friendly, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable experience for guests. She arranged a bottle of sparkling grape juice and fresh flowers for a special occasion and surprised us by placing them in the room while we were out, which was such a thoughtful touch. — Her recommendations were also outstanding. We loved every restaurant she suggested, including Olives and Blue Water Grill for lunch, and Salt & Cypress and 1587 for dinner. She even recommended a beautiful local beach that was scenic, quiet, and uncrowded—exactly what we were looking for. — It’s rare to find a place where both the property and the hospitality exceed expectations, but Burrus House Inn did exactly that. We left with incredible memories and can’t wait to return.

We had the most lovely time at the Burris Inn. A nice quick getaway during the weekday before the season rush. The views were simply amazing. Our room was beyond cozy and the amenities write down to the offering of happy hour and continental breakfast just made our visit that much more epic. Thank you to Vicki and Donna (let’s not forget deer Clementine) for your care and making the person in such a beautiful place to stay.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Burrus House Inn. The inn is so beautiful, comfortable, and so well cared for—you can really feel the thought and pride that goes into the place. We also love Vicky! She is incredibly welcoming, genuine and truly makes the experience feel special and personal. The breakfast in the Peacock room was delicious! The wine and charcuterie put out in there in the late afternoon is such a nice touch and also delicious. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Manteo or just looking for a lovely getaway! A hidden gem!

The most romantic inn on the water! This is our favorite place to stay for our anniversary on OBX. It's exceptionally cozy in January, with fireplaces in every room. The enclosed porch is the perfect place to watch the water in the winter. The rooms are always pristine, like you're the first person to stay there. Already looking forward to our next stay!

We had a wonderful trip to Manteo. The highlight was staying at Burrus House Inn. Our suite was extremely clean, beautifully decorated and very spacious. The incredible views of the Roanoke Sound were breathtaking. This quiet perfectly maintained Inn was lovely. The coffee and delicious pastries for breakfast were also a highlight. We would definitely stay here again. It is a wonderful place!

The Burrus House is AMAZING!!!! Our room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and a beautiful view of the water. The hosts are also amazing. Vickie is warm, friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast and happy hour is delicious. This place is a gem! I highly recommend if you are looking for a 1st class plus place to stay in the Outer Banks.

Burrus House Inn was amazing. It was our first time to The Outer Banks and we didn't know what to expect. Nikki was fantastic to work with and helped us find all the fun activities and great food in the area. Our suite was decorated beautifully, bed was comfortable, and views were amazing. There were a lot of nice touches throughout the Burrus House such as an inviting fire pit out back with a gorgeous view of the sound, as well as special blend coffee from a local company and fresh continental breakfast to get your day started. I'd highly recommend this location and it's a close drive to tons of sightseeing and excursions. Thanks Burrus House and Outer Banks for a great week!

Absolutely love this place! Run by the sweetest family for generations!! My daughter and I stayed in the 2 bedroom/2 bath suite #203. The place was very clean and up to date. We had a beautiful view of Shallowbag Bay. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the Adirondack chairs on the covered porch enjoying the view. The Inn was very quiet since it sits back off the main street. Our suite had a back door inside the inn so we could walk down stairs to pick up breakfast. We especially enjoyed the spinach pastries. Wine and cheese was served from 4-5 everyday. Delicious chocolate chip cookies were available thru out the day! There are several restaurants in walking distance— great pizza place across the street. You can walk to the Christmas Shop. Highly recommend staying here!

I don’t even know where to start, this place was absolutely amazing! My family and I stayed here for my daughter’s wedding, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. With enough notice, we were able to rent out each room in the inn for our family members. Each room is unique, and we coordinated ahead of time to make sure everyone’s needs were met. We arrived on Thursday and stayed through Monday. The conference room became our gathering space for family (and even some friends staying nearby), which made it so easy to be together without feeling cramped. The best part was that each family had their own private room to retreat to when needed, it felt like staying in a big beach house, but with the comfort of personal space. Vicki and Donnamae went above and beyond with their hospitality. Donnamae had fresh flowers out and was so warm and welcoming, it immediately felt like home. They truly made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Our children had the best time too, spending the days leading up to the wedding crabbing, fishing, and riding bikes around the property. It created such magical memories for all of us. I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Burrus House Inn. It is a very special place, and I cannot wait to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for the perfect balance of family togetherness and personal retreat!
