The Quality Inn Carolina Oceanfront is experiencing significant operational challenges as evidenced by recent reviews. Guests have reported issues including elevator malfunctions, cleanliness concerns such as mold, water damage, and unpleasant odors, coupled with broken amenities and communication difficulties. While some staff members are noted for their helpfulness, the overall experience is marred by persistent problems and a dated property.

Not ready for prime time! By the time you read this (stayed 15-17July 2026) maybe it will be. We encountered several issues - some may just be due to how new this hotel is. * The elevator didn't work. Abel, the front desk agent, was very helpful carrying some of our bags to our 3rd floor room which luckily was near the rear stair case. Also, the room key reader for the outside door near this stairwell was inoperable so the door had to propped open from the inside. * The floor in our room quickly became wet and slippery. The room temperature had been set to 60 degrees which resulted in the tile floors sweating with condensation once the warm humid air entered the room. Able was generous with extra towels so we could dry it. We turned on the heat as it was quite cold. We mopped the floor again in the morning twice (once ourselves and then later by housekeeping) and changed the heat pump to dry mode while we were away for the day. By evening the tile floor had warmed to the air temperature. One last mopping when we returned in the evening and the floor remained dry. * There is no electrical outlet on the nightstand e.g. for charging phones, etc. which is inconvenient if you want/need to use a device in bed. * The shower head is quite high and difficult to adjust or aim if your short (I can barely do so at 5'6"). There is no hand-held sprayer. * Lastly, we could not find a switch to turn off the balcony light. We did find the room to be of reasonable size, with a clever roll-out extension of the desk (we used it as a table to eat at, facing each other). The bed was comfortable. The location is good with beach access at the rear of the property

Arrived to a room with tile floor covered in water. Both my kids slipped on the floor and fell while I went to get towels to put down. The employees there are great though. They are doing their best to help everyone while the building has a menagerie of reasons that it shouldn’t be open, from a building code perspective. A very gracious employee moved us to a room with a dry floor. The rugs in the lobby are a tripping hazard. The elevator is broken. The pool is closed. The laundry machines don’t work. The breakfast is basically cereal or bagels. There are after market locks on panic bar exit doors. Hilton should be ashamed to be associated with this property.

Anastasija is the most amazing and accommodating employee I have ever met before. She has been helping us with everything.

The night before our vacation, we were at home. Phone rang and it was Quality Inn calling to cancel our reservation. We were very upset. The lady calling says that the hotel was under renovation. We found out it was closed by the health department. This information came from a very reliable source. It took a week but we finally found a room. Comfort Inn at Kill Devil Hills is very clean, helpful, and has a very friendly staff. Looking forward to this fall when we return.

Room was smelling like dog smell and musty smell. Floor was also not clean.Toilets had slow draining.Front desk people were not helpful at all.Lock of door was not working. Whole night fridge were making so much not that me and my husband were not able to sleep properly. Moreover, breakfast room lady was very rude ,she was not ready to make another batter of waffle and it was just 9 am ,she said it will take atleast 20-25m to make it.After paying good amount of money I am not satisfied at all.

Awful hotel. Probably one of the worst I’ve ever stayed in. And I’ve seen some things. ?There are holes in the walls patch jobs without pant, and the sink was held up by caulk. There was someone else’s food left in the fridge and sand in the bed. The tub was backing up from a clog every time we showered and there was slime on the headboard. ? On top of it all I was overcharged. The choice hotels bait and switched the prices. I was expecting to pay 86 per night for two nights as advertised on Google (plus tax of course) and at check out I was charged 283. They charged me 140 for the first night and 101 for the second plus taxes. The staff was very friendly at check in and check out, although several times we went to the front desk and found it empty. They had poor communication after I lost my shoes in the room. I asked them to contact the housekeepers to see if they were found and a week later I called again and they still had not asked housekeeping. The back door to the balcony was hanging on by a thread. It looked like someone cut the doorframe out and replaced the steel jam with a block of wood. The vicinity to kitty hawk, grocery, bars, and the oceanfront are amazing. But avoid this hotel at all cost.

Only stay here if you smoke. People were smoking nicotine and pot both in and out of rooms. It came in through the vents and around the windows. Inescapable. They moved us once, but it did no good, because the entire property is a chimney. Mold on walls, hole in bathroom ceiling, broken coffeemaker. All of that stuff is forgivable at the price, but the smoke was unbearable. The beds *were* comfortable and the staff obviously cleaned as best they could.

Where do I start…. The pictures on their Google advertising have to be photoshopped. The only thing this place has going for it, is its location, hence the only way they get away with the price. We walked in and were so disappointed but decided our family had stayed here before so we must’ve just gotten a bad room… oh no… this WAS not where they had stayed and they were extremely upset as well seeing they paid over 40 more dollars for their room and it was worse than ours. Hope you brought your cell phones… the phones in the room are useless as they have torn out the cables. We walked in, and after a long drive needed to use the rest room… toilet doesn’t flush. Luckily my husband is handy and fixed it. Told the front desk. Their response was crickets. As we began to take a survey of the room, please look at the tub… there is a crack as long as my size 8 shoe foot. Again told the front desk and they weren’t concerned. I put a towel in the bottom of the tub so I wouldn’t cut my foot. As you can see even if I had wanted to use the microwave, there was no way to know or change the setting… and it needs to be cleaned. Also couldn’t use the towel bar as it was ripped out of the wall. The bed is a hard bed and definitely not a pillow top. Warning: if you are asthmatic… do NOT stay here. I have mild asthma and something in the room triggered it. To just top off our stay as we were leaving for dinner the cops had pulled one guy from a car, had him handcuffed on the ground. Pulling a lady out of the vehicle… and searching the room below us… to which the manager stated it is a common occurrence at this hotel ??????? Let’s just say there is NOTHING QUALITY about this hotel.

We stayed here for an entire week for my birthday. I usually love Quality Inn’s as my partner and I stay at them everytime we travel because the breakfast is included in the price…. The breakfast at this specific hotel was terrible, they didn’t clean the rooms, sand on the floor, beds never made or changed, they gave us 3 towels for 5 people, so I always was walking down to get more towels, and I’m 7 months pregnant….. the elevator was broken and there’s no bath rugs in the bathroom, so I almost slipped after taking a shower and my 67 year old father actually did slip and got a huge bruise on his back and butt! Do not recommend at all, if I could give zero stars I would.
