The Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Nags Head Oceanfront offers a convenient location near the beach and various activities, and boasts friendly staff. However, significant concerns linger regarding room maintenance and cleanliness, particularly in older units, with reports of mold, sticky carpets, and inconsistent housekeeping. While some guests praise the location and breakfast, others have experienced issues with bed quality, room conditions and overall value.
Room was okay; nothing special but the rest of the hotel was great. Breakfast was good and they have lunch options. They have beach access as well as an indoor pool. Each room has a balcony and the hotel itself is close to lots of good food and activities.
Was looking forward to going to outerbanks kill devil hills and enjoy myself, and I did. Unfortunately the accommodations were sub par at best horrid worst, the hotel hasn't been remodeled in decades it seems. Dirty and the carpet was always sticky and gross. The people working the front desk couldn't be bothered to help you in the most basic tasks or questions. I'll return to the OBX one day but will never stay at this dump again. Ohhh I almost forgot, the breakfast offered at the hotel for $10 is disgusting ? go across the street to Miller's and get some real food.
Second time staying here. The front desk is great, and the location cannot be beat. The rooms need some updating and the housekeeping is not as good as it once was. Our room was not cleaned the first day and I had to ask at the front desk to make sure we got service the next day (no, we did not have the do not disturb card on the door). We had two rooms side by side and the bathrooms both had mold on the ceilings. I don’t know why they don’t have bathroom fans but they don’t. Housekeeping never left us any replacement coffee for the coffee maker. Our door to the balcony was in desperate need of repair and you could see daylight around the bottom. The rest of the hotel common areas are updated, so I don’t know why they don’t spend money on a good renovation of the rooms. It looks like they have updated furniture but that’s about it. I’m really rooting for them because it’s such a great location and the staff is friendly and responsive.
We recently stayed at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Nags Head Oceanfront for a long weekend, and overall our experience was mixed. On the positive side, the front desk staff—especially Allie—was very sweet and helpful. She kindly upgraded us to a king room upon arrival, which we appreciated and it made check-in a pleasant experience. However, there were several issues that made our stay less comfortable. The mattress in our room was very worn out and far too soft—we sank into it, which made for poor sleep the entire stay. The room itself could definitely use some updating, including cleaning/replacing the carpet, which did not feel as clean as it should. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Towels were not always replaced, and the level of service varied day to day. Additionally, we were staying on the fourth floor room 435, which is supposed to be a no-pet floor, yet we heard dogs barking a couple of rooms down, which was confusing and a bit frustrating. With some updates—especially new mattresses and improved housekeeping consistency—this hotel could be a much better experience. The staff is friendly, but the property itself needs attention.
Stayed here last week with family. We all agree the food and service was top notch! Ocean views from the rooms are amazing! The front desk staff were very hospitable. Will definitely be back sometime in the future!
First of all a want to start by thanking everyone. My husband and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we had a good experience. The rooms were clean and we had enough towels and housekeeping asked if we needed more. The breakfast was very yummy. The views where awesome and breathtaking we didn't want to leave our room ?. We will definitely be back.
Booked an oceanfront king room for an impromptu stay. My room was clean and comfortable, the view was beautiful and staff was outstanding. The Tiki Hut by the pool was a major plus as well. Great food, drinks and service. The ocean views from the tiki and pool side deck along with the ease of beach access made the trip one to remember. I will definitely be returning to this location.
We have staying here for a few years. Location is the best. Room was great. Housekeeping did a great job. Had breakfast in the Hotel. Reasonable prices. Only ding there. Chef needs to cook eggs. Can't wait to come back . Only negative was the shower. I don't know if it's the valve or what. Getting and keeping temperature was near impossible. Temperature fluctuated between hot and freezing every few seconds.
I’m rating a 3 overall bc I didn’t feel super safe on the 1st floor which are the only pet friendly rooms. The 1st floor rooms have a door that exit to the outside, which is super convenient with a dog. I got a room on the backside of the hotel but the outside door was not locked when I entered. ? Once it got dark, I didn’t feel safe walking my dog out there bc the lighting was minimal. It would help to get some lighting along the fence line, point it down so it doesn’t shine into the rooms. I noticed several doors unlocked and thought it was weird. Someone did try the handle around 11pm. The inside room door needed to be pulled to latch. Basically the doors felt flimsy and a major red flag. My dog was so nervous that she stayed next to my side and awake all night. I was unnerved enough that I didn’t want to explore the hotel in case someone was watching for a mark. Other than the safety concern, the room was clean and served its purpose for 1 night.
This was a nice enough hotel. It looks nice and updated on the inside lobby. After you see the rooms they are less updated but still in fine shape. The bathrooms however could be better. They were dusty and had some questionable drop ceiling. That should be an obvious no-go in this day and age. Aside from this the hot tub was also out of service. It’s a solid stay if you need somewhere but a 3star hotel. I will give props to their water access though, that beach was nice!
